Brief history of the Faculty:

According to the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 4, 2012 No. 1771 “On the establishment of Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture”, the Faculty of Theatre Art was established. Since its foundation, the faculty has been headed by Shodiyev Hamza Xoliqulovich (04.06.2012–11.11.2013), Ismailov Rixsillo Hamidovich (11.11.2013–10.09.2015), and Abdullayev Doniyor Dolimovich (10.09.2015–11.11.2015).

The faculty has been training qualified specialists in the fields of “Acting Art” (by types) and “Directing” (by types). Over the years, prominent representatives of Uzbek theatre and cinema such as People’s Artists of Uzbekistan Shuhrat Abbosov, Turg‘un Azizov, Xayrulla Sa’diyev, Erkin Komilov, Honored Art Worker of Uzbekistan Olimjon Salimov, and Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Boir Xolmirzayev have contributed to the training of actors and directors for national theatre and cinema.

The faculty carries out the educational process in a full-time (on-campus) format.

  • 60211200 – Directing (by types): puppet theatre directing, variety and mass performance directing, musical theatre directing, dramatic theatre directing;

  • 60723100 – Technology of Puppet Production.
Master’s degree specializations:

Faculty staff:

Currently, professional theatre directors and well-known actors from theatres of Tashkent teach at the faculty’s specialized departments. Among them are Honored Artist of Karakalpakstan Arsen Ismoilov, Honored Youth Mentor of Uzbekistan Professor Minavvara Abdullayeva, Maryam Ashurova, Xamida Mahmudova, Isoqtoy Jumanov, Honored Cultural Worker of Uzbekistan Haydarali Qosimov, Honored Artists of Uzbekistan Narziddin Shermatov, Rahimov Erkin, Nodira Mahmudova, Fathulla Xo‘jayev, Shomurod Yusupov, and Honored Artist of Karakalpakstan Ro‘dakiy Allanbayev.

In addition, experienced professors and lecturers such as Professor Sherzod Pirmatov, Qodir Mirzayev, Candidates of Art Studies Go‘zal Xoliqulova, Marina Yusupova, Temur Rashidov, Associate Professors Zamira Ahmedova, Feruza Jalilova, Mahsuma Xodjimatova, Farhod Ahmedov, Jahongir Mamatqosimov, Ramz Qodirov, Ernazar Yorbekov, A’zam Abduxalilov, and Venera Yusupova are actively working at the faculty.

The faculty actively works with young specialists. In order to strengthen the scientific potential of the faculty staff, scientific-methodological seminars, round-table discussions with prominent scholars and specialists are organized. Scientific reports are presented and discussed, and modern interactive teaching methods are studied.

The educational process at the Faculty of Theatre Art is organized in accordance with modern requirements. In order to achieve this goal, the professional development of professors and lecturers abroad has been organized so that they can continue to share advanced knowledge and artistic experience with students. This approach will undoubtedly bring fruitful results in the future.
