Brief History of the Department:
The Department of “Informatics and Natural Sciences” was established in accordance with the decision of the Academic Council and the order of the Rector of the Institute on August 30, 2012. In 2022, the department was renamed the Department of “Information Technologies”.

The Department of Information Technologies is a general academic department within the structure of the Faculty of Library and Information Activities. The department has 6 classrooms equipped with modern computer and multimedia equipment for conducting classes. In order to ensure a full-fledged educational process in informatics and other disciplines, the department has developed a number of computer programs and is also working on the creation of electronic textbooks and teaching aids for students.

The department conducts classes for students of all bachelor’s degree programs and master’s specialties. Classes are held in accordance with the curriculum approved by the Institute Council and developed on the basis of the standard curriculum approved by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

For the teaching staff, department lecturers conduct classes on the subject “Information Technologies in Education” within the timeframes established by the decision of the Academic Council of the Institute. These classes are aimed at improving teachers’ literacy in the use of computer technologies in organizing and conducting the educational process.

In addition, the department operates the “Art and Informatics” club for students of all educational areas of the institute.

Scientific and Practical Cooperation of the Department:
The department’s lecturers conduct their research activities in two main areas:

  1. Current issues and solutions related to the use of information and communication technologies in the system of arts education;
  2. Problems and solutions related to the use of modern pedagogical technologies in teaching the subject “Information Technologies in Arts Education”.

In recent years, more than 150 articles and conference abstracts have been published by the department’s lecturers in international and national scientific journals and conference proceedings in these areas.

The department actively cooperates with such institutions as the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Al-Khwarizmi, the National University of Uzbekistan, the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, the University of Patras (Greece), and the Antwerp School of Telecommunications (Belgium).
