| About the Department of Scientific Research, Innovation and Training of Scientific-Pedagogical Personnel: |

The Department of Scientific Research, Innovation and Training of Scientific-Pedagogical Personnel is one of the main structural divisions of the institute and carries out its activities on the basis of the approved regulations, as well as the decisions and orders of the Rector and the Academic Council of the institute. The department’s activities are aimed at developing research work at the institute, implementing innovative ideas into practice, improving the system of training modern scientific and pedagogical personnel, and enhancing the scientific potential of young researchers. In recent years, the process of training scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel in the higher education system has been acquiring new content and scale. Today, industrial sectors operating on the basis of high technologies, research and educational institutions, as well as the service sector require highly qualified specialists with strong scientific potential. In the Republic of Uzbekistan, scientific and pedagogical personnel are trained at the following stages: These stages are organized through basic doctoral studies, doctoral studies (DSc), as well as independent research, and serve to train modern specialists capable of contributing to the development of science. |
| Requirements for applicants entering postgraduate education institutions: |
|
Admission to postgraduate education (basic doctoral studies, doctoral studies and independent research) is carried out on a competitive basis by admission commissions under higher education institutions (HEIs) or research institutions (RIs) in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Admission to basic doctoral studies is formalized based on the results of entrance examinations, while admission to independent research is carried out based on the results of an interview.

| Applicants wishing to obtain the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree must meet the following requirements: |
|
• Possess a master’s degree or a diploma of higher education (specialist programs); • Have research results forming the scientific basis of the dissertation research, namely: o at least one scientific article published in scientific journals or other reputable publications; o participation with at least two theses in scientific-practical conferences, seminars or collections of scientific works in the relevant field. These requirements are aimed at increasing scientific potential in the system of training scientific-pedagogical personnel, involving young researchers in scientific activities, and developing their skills in conducting independent research. |
| Applicants for basic doctoral studies and independent research must submit the following documents: |
|
• Brief biographical information (CV). • Diploma of higher education institution (bachelor’s and master’s). • Copies of published scientific works (at least 1 article and 2 theses). • Reference from the workplace (for independent researchers). • National or equivalent international certificate in a foreign language (for doctoral candidates). These requirements are aimed at assessing the readiness of applicants for research activities and determining their ability to conduct independent scientific research in the chosen scientific field. |
| Scientific potential of the institute |
|
A total of 306 professors and teachers are working at the institute on the basis of primary employment and internal part-time positions. Their composition is as follows: • 12 Doctors of Science (DSc); • 63 Candidates of Sciences or Doctors of Philosophy (PhD); • 31 Professors; • 70 Associate Professors. As of September 2025, the overall scientific potential of the institute is 55.7 percent. Within the postgraduate education institute, 118 researchers are conducting scientific research. Of them: In order to ensure effective scientific activity of doctoral students and independent researchers, the “Scientific and Innovation Education Center” has been established at the institute. This center is equipped with modern computers connected to the Internet and necessary technical equipment, providing researchers with favorable conditions for conducting scientific research.

A collegial body has been established at the institute in accordance with the resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 22, 2017 No. 304 and December 24, 2019 No. 1030.

Scientific research activity at the institute is consistently developing through the activities of scientific schools in various fields. At the Department of “Art Studies and Cultural Studies”, research is conducted within the scientific schools created by prominent scholars and figures of science and art in the fields of “Theatre Studies”, “Acting and Directing”, and “Dramaturgy”.
In particular: These scientific schools play an important role not only in the growth of the institute’s scientific potential, but also in the development of national theatre, cinema and dramaturgy. |
