| Brief history of the Department: |

The Department of Puppet Theatre Art was established in 1974 under the Drama Department of the Tashkent Institute of Theatre and Fine Arts named after Ostrovsky (now Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture). Since its establishment, the department has been headed by the following professors and teachers: 1978–1983 — Professor V.S. Iogelsen Starting from 2000, the Department of Puppet Theatre Art began admitting students to the master’s program. Today many graduates of the master’s program continue developing their pedagogical careers with the support of department faculty and actively contribute to the creative development of the department. In 2005 the Tashkent State Institute of Arts named after M. Uyg‘ur received the status of a State institution. In 2012, by Presidential Decree No. PF-1771, Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and the Tashkent Institute of Culture named after A. Qodiriy were merged to form Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture. The unification of these two institutions engaged in promoting national art and culture became another important step in implementing the national program for training specialists. As a result of restructuring and combining related departments, four faculties were created: • Theatre Arts The Department of Puppet Theatre Art became part of the Faculty of Theatre Arts. The department trains highly qualified specialists in the following fields: • Puppet Theatre Acting Each specialization classroom is equipped with modern technical equipment, allowing professional-level performances to be staged directly in the educational process. Alongside experienced teachers, young artists and designers who have mastered modern puppet theatre technologies are also involved in teaching.
